11 blind children who died in an inferno buried as stakeholders call for further investigations.

The 11 visually impaired children that perished in a fire last week have been laid to rest.

The children at Salaama school of the blind in Ntenjeru, Mukono district in Uganda were burnt to death in a fire that is suspected to be an arson.

Government through the ministry of education has taken care of the burial arrangement with a token of 5 million shillings each family and families of children who survived have been given one million shillings.

Speaking the funeral ceremony, the headmaster of the school, Mr. James Kinubi cursed whoever could be behind the fire appealing to government to continue with investigations.

The Executive Director, Uganda Child Rights NGO Network, Damon Wamara decried the sad incident emphasizing that the incident should be investigated

“No child should lose their life in such gruesome circumstances and no parent should have to bury their child. The people and government of Uganda must protect and defend children at all times”. Damon Wamara noted.
