Ugandan children will have a detailed reference on their rights right in their schools thanks to the HAKI4ALL book.
The Uganda Child Rights NGO Network and High Sound for Children with support from Grace Machel Trust has launched the book that will see more children about their rights.
The book that was written and compiled with support from African children including those from Uganda focuses on what children rights are, who protects them, how to report violations and what happens in situations where a reported case fails at the national courts.
The launch happened at Buweera primary school in Buwenge, Jjinja district and at Jesjonny Primary school in Mukono district.
At Buweera, the occasion was graced by the area member of parliament who is also an old boy at the school, Brandon Alex Kintu. He applauded High Sound for Children and the Uganda Child rights NGO Network for reaching out even to rural schools that are always forgotten.
"I am a product of such clubs and programs, i would not be where i am today. I got a lot of empowerment on times of speech with confidence and i know this program is going to help many children. I am also happy that you are considering children in rural areas". Hon. Kintu said.
The children were introduced to their rights and many said it was an opportunity for them to learn.
At Jesjonny, the children elected their leadership and the club president said asked government, civil society organizations and well wishers to ensure the books is rolled out to all schools in Uganda.
The book will be shared in four schools in Uganda under the media clubs already running with hope that the number of schools will be increased with time.
