Here, the in charge at the maternity ward, Ms Beatrice Amuge noted that that they still receive child mothers although the number has greatly gone down. She says majority of the child mothers they receive are aged between 16 and 17 and they talk to them when they come.
At the time of the visit, the center lacked power in the theater and could not operate on mothers to undergo ceasarian section. She said mothers who cannot deliver naturally are referred to Jinja referral hospital. The cleaning exercise also attracted Aisha Nabukeera, now a youth, who was abused by her step mother who burnt her. Nabukeera advised girls to always stay focused at their studies and nothing can bring them down.
“I want to give a message of hope to the girls, the problems that you go through today should not determine your future, stay focused you will make it”. She said She however expressed concern that justice had not been served to her ever since she was violated with her tormentors walking scot free.
