High Sound for Children (HSC), in partnership with PEAS, successfully launched a Media Literacy Programme at Town Peas High School in Bugiri.
The activity marked the beginning of a series of media literacy sessions that will be conducted in six PEAS schools across Eastern Uganda.

The launch introduced learners to the concept of media, highlighting its role in everyday life as well as its advantages and disadvantages. Through interactive discussions, students explored how media can be a powerful tool for learning, communication, and entertainment, while also recognizing the risks associated with misinformation, harmful online content, and excessive media use.

A practical music session was used to help learners understand the influence and impact of media on attitudes, emotions, and behaviour. Participants reflected on how music and other forms of media shape opinions, culture, and decision-making among young people.

The event also featured a lively dance competition between teachers and learners, which showcased the strong and positive relationship that exists between students and their teachers. The activity created an engaging learning environment and reinforced the importance of teamwork and mutual respect within the school community.
As a follow-up to the launch, the school’s Teacher Patron will work closely with interested learners to establish a Media Literacy Club. The selected group will participate in a six-week media literacy training programme facilitated by High Sound for Children, equipping them with practical skills to critically engage with media and become peer champions for responsible media use within the school.
The launch was well received by both learners and teachers, demonstrating enthusiasm for the programme and a shared commitment to promoting safe, informed, and responsible media engagement among young people.
