High Sound for Children has received sewing and knitting machines to strengthen its efforts in empowering child mothers under its Gold Star Skilling Program in Kawempe’s Ssebaggala Zone.

The equipment will be used to train young mothers who conceived at an early age, empowering them with practical skills for survival, self-reliance, and improved livelihoods.

The donation was made possible by Tools with a Mission through Mindset Development Organization. While officially handing over the equipment, the Head of Mindset Development Organization, Maureen Mugisha, appealed to the Government of Uganda to consider waiving taxes on skilling materials such as sewing and knitting machines. She emphasized that reducing the cost of accessing such tools would ensure that vulnerable groups, especially teenage mothers, benefit fully from skilling initiatives.

“Our work as High Sound for Children started in Kawempe and as a media for children organization we are giving back to this community through supporting the teenage mothers. This support is a big step in ensuring that young mothers gain stability and independence. When they are equipped with hands-on skills, they are better placed to sustain themselves and their families,” Hadijah Mwanje- the Executive Director, High Sound for Children noted.

The Gold Star Skilling Program has impacted over 40 child mothers through psychosocial support and linkage to appropriate services including, legal and vocational services.
