High Sound for Children has launched a fundraising drive for the children in Bududa. This is after a team from the organization visited Bukalasi village that was hit by landslides leaving over 40 people dead.

The organization will collect items used in day today life like clothes, beddings, food, scholastic materials for children among others.

The landslides claimed lives of children including a 4 months old baby. The Executive Director High Sound for Children, Ms Hadijah Mwanje says the drive was prompted by the findings in a visit to the area after the disaster. “We noticed many children were expose to the cold with no beddings, no shelter, and scholastic materials and many are actually traumatized. That’s why we chose to lead the drive for children”.

She says many organizations have contributed food and clothing to the people in general but no one has thought about the children. “When we reached out to the scene, many children were stuck , some have not resumed school up to now because they lost guardians and at the mercy of relatives, some children especially the infants were hospitalized due to the cold because they sleep in tents, we call on everyone to give towards these children”. She made the appeal.

Children and women are most vulnerable in such disasters and Bududa is not an exception. High Sound for children will be partnering with media houses in the fundraising drive and child rights organizations.
