11 children of Watoto Church Choir have tested positive for COVID-19.
The children had been placed under quarantine in Entebbe .
Addressing the nation this evening, the president said the children had returned from United Kingdom where they had gone to perform.
“The number of Corona cases has risen to 44 because 11 children from Watoto church tested positive. They had been under quarantine and were part of the 173 tests that were carried out”. President Museveni said.
This brings to 13 the total number of pediatric corona cases in Uganda with the first case reported of an eight months old baby that continues to receive treatment at Mulago hospital.
The second case is a ten years’ old who was confirmed positive on Sunday.
The president noted that testing of people suspected to have the disease continues but only on those who have shown signs.
He says the cost of each test being 65$ makes it expensive to test whoever wants to be tested at the moment.
Uganda is currently implementing a total lock-down as it battles the Corona disease with a ban on both private and public transport and movement of people. All shops were also closed except for those dealing in food stuffs.
