Building a Clean Digital Footprint: Capital FM's Lucky Mbabazi Inspires Youth

In an era where social media often dictates the pace of life, celebrated radio personality Lucky Mbabazi delivered a powerful message to young people about the importance of creating a clean digital footprint.

Speaking at the second Holiday Media Program, organized by High Sound for Children in partnership with Centre for Media literacy and community development (CEMCOD and the Uganda Media in Women Association, Lucky encouraged young people to prioritize meaningful content over the fleeting allure of likes and followers.

The event drew dozens of young participants eager to learn about responsible media use. Taking the stage with her signature charisma, Lucky captivated the audience with real-life examples of how social media can shape opportunities—or close doors.

“Recently, I applied for a visa, and one of the requirements was to have two of my social media accounts reviewed,” she shared. “Employers, too, now check social media to understand the people they are hiring. What you post today could determine whether you get that dream job tomorrow.”

Lucky advised the young people to carefully evaluate the pros and cons of posting content or consuming certain materials online. “Social media is a public diary, and it never forgets,” she warned. “Be deliberate to share what you would like your future employer, or anyone important, to know about you.”

Drawing from her personal experiences, Lucky revealed moments when she had faced challenges due to her online presence. “I have been attacked on social media. Some situations even escalated to court,” she said. Her candidness resonated with the audience, leaving them both reflective and inspired to make wiser online choices.

After the formal session, the mood lightened as Lucky joined the young people for a lively dance session. Her effortless moves and infectious energy brought smiles all around, reinforcing her message that being responsible online doesn’t mean forgetting how to have fun.

The Holiday Media Program ended on a high note, with participants walking away equipped with new perspectives on digital responsibility.
