POLICE RALLIES MEDIA ON CHILD PROTECTION

The media has been urged to always protect children involved in crime. The head of the child and family protection unit Kampala metropolitan police, Caroline Kushemererwa says many children involved in crime continue to be exposed. She says this also applies to children whose parents are involved in crime. “I always see the media exposing these children and I wonder if their job is to help the children or cause them more problems, so many shows expose children”. She said. She says in Kampala, orders have been given out to all officers not to parade juveniles and it is yielding fruit. She appeals to the media to lead in securing children as they carry on with their work.
