Sharing Experiences-Adopting Parents Launch Association

Ugandan Parents who adopt children will now be able to meet and share experiences thanks to the formation of an association that brings them together. The Adopting parents of Uganda association has been launched for parents to exchange and also give an opportunity to their children to meet.

The head of the association, Mr. Christian Ssekyanzi says many people in Uganda look at child adoption as a western culture but this has to change.

“If everyone adopted a child, we would not be having orphanages but Ugandans tag it to the west”.

He says baby homes and orphanages do a great job but the children should not stay there for long and should be given to families.

“The orphanages have done a great job, probably many of these children would be dead but it is not good that a child stays there forever”. He emphasized

He also says the platform will help adopting parents share experiences and also give their children an opportunity to know each other”

According to Child I Foundation an organization that promotes making families, orphanages harm children and make orphans out of them.

Every day, parents place their children in orphanages in the hope of a better life with 80% of children having at least one living parent or large extended family that can take care of them.
