High Sound for Children has called upon government to direct more efforts to ensuring trained teachers at the Pre-Primary level. Many teachers handling children at this level do not have proper training and this affects the children in future. The situation is worse in rural areas where many schools lack early childhood development centers.
The executive Director High Sound for Children, Ms Hadijah Mwanje says government made a decision in have early childhood education centers at every primary school but this has not happened.
“This is a very important stage in the growth of a child, if there is no proper handling, the children are be affected even at primary and other level but no much attention has been paid. The policy on early child hood education also needs to be amended to provide for this”.
She congratulated teachers on yet another year of great service to the nation because they are what the nation is. Government has admitted that a lot needs to be done at this level but hopeful that will an updated policy, all the gaps will be covered. The day was celebrated under the theme of “The right to education means the right to a qualified teacher” and the national celebrations were held in Fort portal.
